# House-Shaped Bookshelves The Readers' Nest by WIS Design Provides Comfort and Safety for Novels By Meghan Young | Published 2012-10-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/readers-nest References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/modern-design-the-readers-nest) & [wisdesign.se](http://www.wisdesign.se/) Reading is often a welcomed escape from reality and the Readers' Nest bookshelf encapsulates the feeling of comfort and safety people often feel when going on such literary journeys. Shaped like a house, it takes a page from the [invisible bookshelves](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teebooks-shelves). Essentially, a pile of books rest on one ledge while a single one forms a roof above. The roof of the Readers' Nest serves more purpose than simply looking good. It allows people to mark their page in a cute and clever way. The Readers' Nest was conceived and created by WIS Design for David Design. The studio describes it as a "simple but ingenious little shelf for all book lovers." Perfect for both regular and [pocket books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe), the Readers' Nest is made out of white painted metal. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.4/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Comfort and Safety in Design:** Incorporating comfort and safety elements into design products can enhance the user experience and create innovative solutions. - **Invisible Bookshelves:** Taking inspiration from invisible bookshelves, designers are exploring creative ways to display and store books. - **Clever Bookmarks:** Developing unique and clever bookmarks can add a delightful element to the reading experience and provide innovative solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can incorporate comfort and safety features into their designs to create more appealing and functional products. - **Home Decor:** Home decor industry can take inspiration from invisible bookshelves and introduce innovative book storage and display solutions. - **Stationery and Book Accessories:** Companies in the stationery and book accessories industry can develop unique and clever bookmarks to cater to readers' preferences and enhance the reading experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Tech-Charging Book Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haaase-liesma-bookshelf.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Block Puzzled Book Nooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-book-nook.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Personality-Enhancing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ordo-book.md) - [Book-Shaped Transparent Bookmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-bookmark.md) - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md)
