Samsung has created a 0.8mm razor thin LCD screen. The thinner screen makes the surface easier to read. In addition, it's shock proof, so the screen is perfect for mobile applications. The 2.2 inch LCD features 240x320 QVGA resolution and a 500:1 contrast ratio. Pricing and availability has not yet been released.
Implications - Slim is all the rage these days in the tech industry. Consumers are expressing a demand for miniature, thin products that they can bring around with ease--whether it's for convenience (cell phones) or entertainment (iPods). In a society where everyone is tech-obsessed, it becomes important for companies to find ways to produce mini-sized products suited for portability without sacrificing specs.
