This collection of photographs reveals the heartbreaking, raw reactions that come from the men of Lithuania being conscripted for the army. This is a very controversial topic that Beata Tiskevic-Hasanova and Neringa Rekasiute decided to explore through a photography project.
Each portrait reveals the raw reactions of men between the ages of 19 and 26, looking at the camera with tears streaming down their faces. All of the men are attempting to be emotionless. Some are tense, revealing the amount of energy being used to hold back more of their tears. Other men appear stronger.
The ultimate goal of this project is to show the dangers of gender expectations, because in Lithuania, men are expected to have no emotions. Each image also reveals a quote from the subject sharing an opinion on the military.
