# Violent Breadboxes Raw-Edges Design Studio Cuts Kitchen Clutter with its Knife-Block By Michael Hines | Published 2011-08-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raw-edges-design-studio References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/hidden-handle-kitchen-knife-grip-opens-secret-bread-box/) & [raw-edges](http://www.raw-edges.com/) Raw-Edges Design Studio has successfully found a way to combine a knife-block and a breadbox. The aptly named 'Breadbox' is wall-mounted and opens only when the knife is inserted into the block. Designers Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay of Raw-Edges have creatively combined several kitchen essentials into one ingenious design. Besides being used as a knife-block and breadbox, this design could also double as a cutting board and shelf. The 'Breadbox' would significantly cut down on kitchen clutter as there would no longer be a need for a separate cutting board, knife-block and breadbox if it were mounted in the kitchen. Raw-Edges doesn't seem to have any plans to mass-produce this design, but here's hoping they change their minds. You can check out the 'Breadbox' from Raw-Edges Design Studios here. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 14% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multi-functional Kitchen Products:** Companies can explore creative designs that combine multiple kitchen essentials into one product, such as knife-block and breadbox combinations like Raw-Edges' 'Breadbox'. - **Wall-mounted Kitchen Storage:** Wall-mounted designs like Raw-Edges' 'Breadbox' can offer a space-saving solution for small kitchens. - **Minimalist Kitchen Design:** The 'Breadbox' can inspire the trend of simplifying kitchen clutter by combining multiple functions into one product. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Kitchenware:** Kitchenware manufacturers can develop multi-functional products that cut down on clutter and maximize space, like combining knife-blocks and breadboxes. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can explore space-saving solutions like wall-mounted kitchen storage to appeal to customers seeking minimalist designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate multi-functional products and minimalist design trends, such as Raw-Edges' 'Breadbox', into kitchen designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Slick Minimalist Knife Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-knife-block.md) - [Magnetic D2C Knife Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/misen-modular-knife-storage.md) - [EDC Knife Display Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holme-hadfield-knife-deck.md) - [Design-Conscious Butcher Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caraway-prep-serve-butcher-block.md) - [Cheese-Shaped Charcuterie Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cheese-block-with-knife.md) - [Curved Stacked Wooden Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/box-set.md) - [Minimalist Preparation Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mudra-cutting-board.md) - [Self-Referential Sandwich Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandwich-maker-concept.md) - [Multifunctional Kitchen Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/latticeboard-multipurpose-kitchen-board.md)
