# Glass Supported Furnishings The Rauma Furniture Collection by Max Ptk Appears Unbalanced By Meghan Young | Published 2013-04-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rauma-furniture-collection References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/04/04/the-wonder-of-whats-under/) The pieces in the Rauma Furniture Collection looks as though they were magically staying propped up in spite of sporting only ultra-thin or non-existent bases. Granted, it is all just an optical illusion. The seats and table are made using [tempered glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sklo), which gives them an uncluttered, streamlined appeal that many minimalists will appreciate. Designed by Max Ptk, the Rauma Furniture Collection contrasts [warm wood materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures) with clear glass for a look that is very smart and sophisticated. The chairs and stools even boast handles at the top that makes it easier to pull them in and out when taking a seat. Unfortunately, the Rauma Furniture Collection may not be conducive to a pet-owning family for obvious reasons. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Optical Illusion Furniture:** Creating furniture pieces that appear to defy gravity or have a floating effect using clever design techniques. - **Minimalist Glass Furniture:** Designing furniture with tempered glass to achieve a sleek and uncluttered aesthetic favored by minimalists. - **Functional Handle Furniture:** Incorporating handles or innovative mechanisms into furniture designs to improve usability and convenience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Exploring new materials and design techniques to create visually striking furniture pieces that challenge conventional ideas. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating optical illusion furniture into interior design projects to add a touch of intrigue and create unique spaces. - **Home Decor:** Offering minimalist glass furniture options for customers looking to achieve a modern and sophisticated look in their homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glass Geometry Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-collection.md) - [Glass Surfaced Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-collection.md) - [Simplistic Glass Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simoon-collection.md) - [Modular Glass Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modulo-collection.md) - [Lucite Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel.md) - [Elegant Glass Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebbles-collection.md) - [Crystalline Acrylic Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel-flare-collection.md) - [Mesmerizing Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel1.md) - [Light-Refracting Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/look-mum-no-uv.md)
