# Fairy Tale-Inspired Furniture Rapunzel Chair and Pouf Collection Gets Magical in the Home By Matt Ho | Published 2012-01-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rapunzel-chair-and-pouf-collection References: [freshome](http://freshome.com/2012/01/11/rapunzel-chair-and-pouf-collection-by-kenneth-cobonpue/) & [kennethcobonpue](http://www.kennethcobonpue.com/) Designer Kenneth Cobonpue has a new furniture line called the Rapunzel Chair and Pouf Collection, which draws inspiration from one of the most popular fairy tales of all time. Cobonpue's Rapunzel Chair and Pouf Collection is essentially comprised of an [armchair and a footrest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rio-pouffe) to complement the piece. The pieces are constructed by a [durable steel frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pul-collection), which is then covered by a thick [hand-coiled upholstered foam](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs). So how does this line reflect Rapunzel? The exterior has a tight, braided look which is definitely a nod to the protagonist's freakishly long hair in the fairy tale. One could even argue that the rounded, closed look is a tribute to the tower that Rapunzel gets trapped in for most of her life. The Rapunzel Chair and Pouf Collection is available in silver, pale gray and sand finishes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Fairy Tale-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture inspired by popular fairy tales offers a unique and whimsical approach to home decor. - **Braided Exterior Design:** Incorporating a tight, braided look in furniture design can create a visually stunning and unique aesthetic. - **Steel Frame with Upholstered Foam:** Combining a durable steel frame with thick upholstered foam provides both strength and comfort in furniture design. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore incorporating fairy tale-inspired designs to attract customers looking for unique and whimsical pieces. - **Home Decor:** The braided exterior design trend in furniture can create opportunities for innovative home decor solutions. - **Interior Design:** The use of a steel frame with upholstered foam opens up possibilities for interior designers to create sturdy and stylish furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Toy-Like Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frunchroom-furniture-collection.md) - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Fairytale-Inspired Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circu-mr-bunny-bed.md) - [Whimsical Childlike Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-eternal-child.md) - [Climbing Rope-Crafted Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/entwined-objects.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Kitchen-Inspired Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pole-collection.md) - [Eco-Friendly Pouf Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rio-pouffe.md) - [Curvaceous Ribbon-Like Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qeeboo-ribbon-armchair.md)
