The massive rainbow will be projected onto a 45 x 25 meter roof arch situated above platform 2B. The rainbow is projected onto the arch by a four-kilowatt spotlight that spews the projection through a special crystal filter. The projection makes use of liquid crystal optics technology originally developed for research on exoplanets, but now being repurposed to delight [commuters and travelers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masterpeace-painting) in the Dutch capital's major transit hub. The rainbow projection features a wide array of colors unmatched by smartphones and cameras.
