# Survivalist Sculptures Rainbow Monkey Features Islands Where Only a Few Remain By Jessica Marcel | Published 2009-12-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rainbow-monkey References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/rainbow-monkey/) & [rainbowmonkey.de](http://www.rainbowmonkey.de/pr-37_islands.html) Rainbow Monkey created this exhibit which is part of an ongoing project. More pieces will be added to the current collection as they are created. Each piece is a crater, or [rock-like sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-great-tree) with tiny people and animals on the top surface. Each of Rainbow Monkey’s sculptures depicts a different scene, from a circus train that got in an accident to a crowd gathered around what looks like a pool of lava. Rainbow Monkey’s pieces represent a feeling of being stranded and alone, with only yourself and those immediately around you to depend on. The limited space of each [crater-like sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/future-fossils-1) also gives a sense of ever-decreasing resources, perhaps a symbol of our own situation on this planet. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Miniature Sculptures:** Creating intricate miniature sculptures with tiny people and animals on the top surface of crater-like structures. - **Symbolic Art:** Using art to convey deeper meanings and emotions, such as feelings of being stranded, alone, or facing resource scarcity. - **Ongoing Projects:** Continually adding new pieces to the exhibit as part of an ongoing artistic project. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Sculpture:** Providing opportunities to explore new forms of expression and creativity through miniature sculptures and symbolic art. - **Exhibition and Event Management:** Managing ongoing projects and exhibits that require continuous curation and addition of new pieces. - **Emotional and Therapeutic Arts:** Utilizing symbolic art to evoke and explore deeper emotions and feelings of solitude, resilience, and resource scarcity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Climate-Awareness Soft Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamstones.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Interactive Marine Ecosystem Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marine-ecosystem-sculptures.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Nature-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humannature-1.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md) - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Monumental Air Installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iwagumi-air-scape.md) - [UK-Based Modern Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/relics-in-the-landscape.md)
