The 'Hibou,' french translation for owl, is a ceramic radio that's operated by touching its patter designs. Most radios are normally adorned with knobs and buttons, but the Hibou functions by simply touching the patterns on the ceramic radio. Each motif is designated towards a particular setting (power switch, volume and frequency). The [touch-object radio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tap-tap-table-lamp) requires a very minimal amount of effort and strength, which makes it the ideal radio design for people who find turning knobs and pressing buttons a hassle or too exhausting. The Hibou is just the first step towards a touch-free radio device -- pretty soon people won't even need to touch a radio. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalistic Room Style:** Designers can explore touch-based interfaces and eliminate physical buttons and knobs for a truly minimalistic radio design. - **Touch-object Interaction:** Developers can create innovative touch-object radios that use specific patterns and motifs for different functions, providing a unique and intuitive user experience. - **Touch-free Radio Technology:** Engineers can work towards developing advanced touch-free radio devices that eliminate the need for physical touch, offering convenience and efficiency. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The minimalistic room style trend creates opportunities for designers to incorporate touch-based radio designs that seamlessly blend with minimalist interiors. - **Consumer Electronics:** The trend toward touch-based interfaces in radios presents an opportunity for consumer electronics companies to create innovative and user-friendly radio devices. - **Technology Development:** The transition towards touch-free radio technology opens up avenues for engineers and technologists to develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance user convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Industrial Design Radio Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/radio-desk.md) - [Nostalgic Gaming Console Radios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-radio.md) - [Minimalist Wireless Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-wireless-speaker.md) - [Tech-Infused Analog Radios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-aesthetics-and-modern-technology.md) - [Delightfully Playful Music Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anomalo.md) - [Fashion-Forward Audio Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luna-audio.md) - [Retrofuturistic Streaming Audio Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-streaming-audio-player.md) - [Minimalist Art Piece Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totem-rr231.md) - [Tactile Smart Home Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/from-design-concept.md)
