The steering wheel is designed to be used without a conventional pedal setup and instead utilizes a series of side-mounted pedals for acceleration or shifting. This works to save ample space in tighter desktop environments where conventional equipment might not fit or suit. The 'TRZ-Y' racing wheel concept draws design inspiration from the [Lamborghini](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/essenza-scv12-sim-racing-steering-wheel) Terzo Millennio designed by Mitja Borkert. This speaks to the blurring of lines between the physical and digital worlds as the two begin to intertwine in terms of design. A series of digital displays directly on the steering wheel further highlight a digital-first design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 12% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Hypercar-inspired Controllers:** There is an opportunity to explore and develop more hypercar-inspired controllers for various digital applications. - **Side-mounted Pedals:** Side-mounted pedals could be a disruptive innovation for gaming and other desktop applications as they save space and offer more ergonomic options. - **Digital-first Design:** More products could benefit from incorporating a digital-first design approach, such as digital displays on products themselves, blurring the line between physical and digital worlds. ### Where This Applies - **Gaming:** The gaming industry could benefit from new controllers that offer more immersive experiences and save space. - **Desktop Equipment:** Side-mounted pedals could disrupt the desktop equipment industry, providing more ergonomic options to users and enhancing user experiences. - **Automotive:** Automotive industry players could explore digital-first designs and incorporate more digital displays into vehicles for an enhanced user experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Detailed Racing Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/essenza-scv12-sim-racing-steering-wheel.md) - [Branded Automotive Gaming Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ferrari-nintendo-steering-wheel.md) - [Adaptable Shapeshifting Steering Wheels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dynamic-steering-wheel.md) - [Ultra-Immersive Race Sim Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turtle-beach-velocityone-race.md) - [Licensed Automotive Gaming Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thrustmaster-t818-ferrari-sf1000-simulator.md) - [Precision Pro-Grade Game Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sim-racing-steering-wheel.md) - [Integrated Steering Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swift-drive.md) - [Touch-Sensitive Steering Wheels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cercle-steering-wheel-concept.md) - [Steering Wheel Gaming Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gamesir-swift-drive.md)
