Nike has previously used its Racer Blue colorway on the Air Max 98 in 2018, though the Air Jordan 5 showcases this color palette quite differently. Firstly, this sneaker is nearly covered in [black suede](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-suede) from the upper to the heel. The namesake color, Racer Blue, appears on the midsole, the tongue, the insole, and the heel, with a Racer Blue Jumpman logo appearing on the tongue and heel. The sneaker also accents the eye stay and a portion of the upper as well as the tongue with 'Iron Grey,' giving this sneaker a futuristic, racing-style look. Secondly, this sneaker has a thick, high-top frame as it uses the Air Jordan 5's silhouette, making it a much bolder sneaker than the Air Max 98.
