Debuting at the Tokyo International Toy Show, this robot sidekick figurine doesn't just illuminate blips of light randomly, it actually projects our very own Milky Way galaxy. It won't be entirely accurate however as there'll be a few [Death Stars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ucs-death-star) hovering around and I'm pretty sure we haven't achieved that level of technology yet. The R2D2 Planetarium is also surprisingly affordable at just $87, so even if you aren't a fan of Star Wars, it can be a half decent teaching utensil for students studying the solar system and our galaxy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Astral Projection Toys:** The R2D2 Planetarium toy demonstrates the growing trend of toys that project realistic images of stars and galaxies, offering an immersive experience for enthusiasts and educational purposes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Toy Manufacturing:** The toy manufacturing industry can explore opportunities in producing more advanced projection toys like the R2D2 Planetarium to cater to the growing demand for immersive and educational toys. - **Education:** The education industry can incorporate astral projection toys like the R2D2 Planetarium into their curriculum to create interactive and engaging learning experiences for students studying astronomy and the solar system. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can leverage the trend of astral projection toys to create immersive experiences for consumers, such as using them in virtual reality or augmented reality games or experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Miniature Astronomy Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-planetarium.md) - [Astronaut Night Light Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors.md) - [Galactic Robot-Inspired Puzzle Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-r2d2.md) - [Astronomy-Based Children's Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflatable-solar-system-set.md) - [Motion-Activated Sci-Fi Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hasbro-2.md) - [Real Life Cinematic Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/g1t4m1n1-droid.md) - [LED-Powered Laser Swords](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-series-obiwan-kenobi-force-fx-elite-lightsaber.md) - [Movie-Inspired Digi-Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-tamagotchi.md) - [Storytelling Projector Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonlite.md)
