# Scribbled Table Support Jason Phillips' Quantum Table is Artfully Abstract By Meghan Young | Published 2011-06-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quantum-table References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/06/15/subatomic-table/) & [phillipscollection](http://www.phillipscollection.com/) There is something beautiful about the chaotic scribbles supporting the Quantum Table. Artfully abstract, this piece of furniture seems like it belongs in the halls of a museum rather than in a living room of someone's home. The true beauty of this table is that it brings a touch of art and culture to one's abode. Designed by Jason Phillips, the Quantum Table is intriguingly elegant despite its randomly bent metal legs -- or perhaps it is not so random. The Quantum Table is an 'interpretation of what the movement or path of subatomic particles might look like,' according to [Yanko Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture). I especially like how the [lacquered orange corian top](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/never-stop-moving) of the Quantum Table acts as an anchor to the turbulent flux of the [hand-formed steel wire base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-side-table). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Artistic Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore ways to combine art and furniture design to create unique and aesthetically pleasing pieces. - **Abstract Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop home decor items that challenge traditional design concepts and add an element of abstraction to living spaces. - **Design Inspired by Science:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Merge science and design to create furniture and decor pieces that are both functional and visually interesting. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Push the boundaries of traditional interior design by incorporating unconventional and artistic elements. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Experiment with materials and techniques to create furniture that stands out in terms of design and craftsmanship. - **Home Decor Retail:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Curate a collection of home decor items that cater to the growing demand for unique and abstract design pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Blurred Bold Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blur-coffee-table.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Dynamic Strong Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md) - [Kinetic Artful Sand Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arrakis-30.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Artwork-Inspired Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d12-dining-table.md)
