# Mind-Controlled Bicycles The PXP Bike Lets You Switch Gears Using Brainwaves By Meghan Young | Published 2011-07-06 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pxp-bike References: [dvice](http://dvice.com/archives/2011/07/change-your-bik.php) & [toyotapriusprojects](http://www.toyotapriusprojects.com/#/011) The PXP bike is a revolutionary [carbon-fiber bicycle concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-bike-concept-design) that will allow you to change gears with your mind. Although it doesn't actually mean that all cycles will soon do away with physical switches, it does pave the way for more uses of brain-controlled products. Developed by Parlee Cycles for the [Toyota](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mag-drive) Prius Concept Bike Project, the PXP bike features a helmet equipped with neurotransmitters that read a wearer's brainwaves and a wireless transmitter attached to the bike's seat post. These two parts allow the rider to control his or her bike through brainwaves. This system was engineered by Deeplocal. I like that the PXP bike actually looks like a bicycle and not so much like a futuristic vehicle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Brain-enabled Products:** Develop brain-controlled products for various uses. - **Neurotransmitter-integrated Gear:** Integrate neurotransmitters into other products for non-invasive control. - **Innovative Cycling Technology:** Develop new technology for cycling for a more efficient and intuitive experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Bicycle Manufacturing:** Incorporate brain-controlled technology into new bicycle models to differentiate from competitors. - **Sports and Fitness Equipment:** Apply brain-controlled technology to other sports and fitness products like treadmills or weight machines for more efficient training. - **Automotive Manufacturing:** Collaborate with bicycle manufacturers to integrate brain-controlled technology into car controls for a safer and more efficient driving experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Drivetrain-Devoid Concept EBikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concept-ebike.md) - [Smart-Shifting Trail Bicycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trail-bicycle.md) - [Shapeshifting Trunk-Friendly Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pxid-a1.md) - [AI-Fueled Urban E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aifueled-urban-ebikes.md) - [Brainwave-Connected Tech Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/myndplay-myndhub.md) - [Compact AI-Powered E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smalo-px2.md) - [AI-Enhanced Smart Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aienhanced-smart-bikes.md) - [Futuristic E-Bike Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ebike-concept.md) - [Automatic Foldable E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gocycle-g4.md)
