# Thumbtack-Inspired Seating The Pushpin Cork by COOIMA is Inspired by a Common Stationery By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pushpin-cork References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2012/06/pushpin-cork-cooima/) & [cooima](http://www.cooima.com/) Inspired by the common office stationery it is named after, the Pushpin Cork is a piece of furniture that can be used either as a stool or flipped over into a side table. Placed in the work environment or even in a home office, the Pushpin Cork stool and side table would make a quirky addition that is minimal enough to complement any existing decor. The Pushpin Cork stool and side table was designed by Kenyon Yeh of COOIMA, a Taiwan based company recently founded in 2012. The familiar oversize form offers a sense of warmth and comfort wherever it is placed. Great for both men and women, it is a useful piece of furniture that can act as a playful work of art when not in use, especially when in offices. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Cork Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing versatile furniture pieces using sustainable and eco-friendly cork material. - **Multi-functional Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating furniture that can serve multiple purposes to maximize space and functionality. - **Playful Office Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing unique and creative furniture designs that bring a sense of fun and personality to work environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating sustainable materials and multi-functional design concepts into furniture production processes for eco-conscious consumers. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Expanding options for playful and unique furniture designs that can enhance the aesthetic appeal of home and office spaces. - **Office Supplies and Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introducing innovative and unconventional office decor items that can add personality and creativity to work environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stackable Cork-Made Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-cork-seating.md) - [Cork Coaster-Integrated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polka-coffee-table.md) - [Cork Bathroom Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathroom-seating.md) - [Stackable Cork-Like Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drum-stool-1.md) - [Cork-Made Occasional Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-tk.md) - [Sustainable Cork Desk Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/korka.md) - [Sustainable Chrome Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cork-collection.md) - [Cork Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guillaume-delvigne.md) - [Sustainable Modern Bathroom Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marco-carini.md)
