# Warped Hexagon Facades Exterior of the Pushkinsky Cinema Features an Open Air Lattice Pattern By Katherinev123 | Published 2011-10-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pushkinsky-cinema References: [evolo.us](http://www.evolo.us/architecture/new-parametric-facade-for-pushkinsky-cinema-synthesis-design-architecture/) & [synthesis-dna](http://www.synthesis-dna.com/) With a renovation design by Synthesis Design + Architecture, the Pushkinsky Cinema has been transformed into a completely new venue that is both dramatic yet elegant. An interesting [open air lattice](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-mesh), inspired by a "Russian veil," covers the exterior of the Pushkinsky Cinema. This viewl is made of thermo-formed paneled sheets of DuPont Corian; the panels, according to Evolo, work to gently transform the pattern of the exterior into a "varied matrix of warped hexagon modules." Further, these interesting hexagonal modules create a "[moire effect](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flickering-peak)" -- as you move through the building, you see the hexagonal shapes turning from opaque to transparent and back. It is this play of light and shadow that makes the [renovation of the Pushkinsky Cinema](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavilion-13) so innovative and peculiar at the same time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Open Air Lattice:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new possibilities for incorporating open air lattice structures into architectural designs, creating unique and visually striking facades. - **Warped Hexagon Modules:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new materials and construction techniques to create modular hexagonal elements that can be used in architectural designs to achieve a dynamic moire effect. - **Play of Light and Shadow:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Invent new lighting solutions and techniques that utilize the interplay between light and shadow to create captivating and transformative visual experiences in architectural spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Revolutionize traditional architectural designs by integrating innovative and visually engaging elements such as open air lattice structures and warped hexagon modules. - **Construction:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new materials and construction methods to facilitate the efficient production and installation of complex architectural features like open air lattice structures and warped hexagon modules. - **Lighting Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Push the boundaries of lighting design by creating new techniques and technologies that enhance the interplay between light and shadow, enabling transformative visual experiences in architectural spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cinema-Converted Cultural Centres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tselinny-center-of-contemporary-culture.md) - [Rippled Facade Luxe Retailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dior-store-2.md) - [Curved Brick Hainan Cinemas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haikou-gaoxingli-insun-cinema.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md) - [Metal Sheet-Facade Book Stores](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shanghai-book-city.md) - [Geometric Prefabricated Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/7-kiosks.md) - [Hempcrete-Accented Patchwork Facades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patchwork-facade.md) - [Public Pavilion Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tess-pavilion.md) - [Landscape Seating Theater Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cinema-visiona.md)
