If this had been sent out in April I would have been convinced it was a wind-up. But it hasn’t and it is true.

Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, perhaps better known as Johnny Rotten, has become the new face of [British butter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/golden-hooves-salted-butter) Dairy Crest. The singer will apparently appear in Country Life TV ads for the butter, which is the last remaining major British brand.

A spokesperson said Lydon had been chosen because he is “a great British icon.”

“His independent views are part of his consumer appeal and his tongue-in-cheek sense of humor shines through in our [TV advertising](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quorn-mission-snack-swap-campaign).”

The first ad featuring Lydon is expected to start broadcasting soon. I hope he does better than when he was on “I Am a Celebrity” when he would deliberately say a four letter word (starting with c and ending in t) on live TV.
