The 'Cocktail Computer' is a computer that uses no actual electricity, but rather takes the approach of old [punch card systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floppy-disk-inspired-sd-card) used in early computer designs. The plastic retro computer contains 24 different essential ingredient slots that let users select what ingredients they have readily available. Designer Lily Szajnberg chose 24 basic ingredients because this combination yields a wide variety of classic and innovative cocktail creations. Three metal push pins -- which also double as garnish skewers -- are inserted inside the machine's ingredient labeled holes to filter through the 100 included recipe cards. Just lift the computer's lid and you'll be presented with your very own [curated cocktail recipe](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sip-cocktails). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Drinking](https://www.trendhunter.com/drinking) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Retro Computing:** Opportunity to create more modern products that incorporate elements of early computer designs. - **DIY Mixology:** Opportunity for makers to create their own innovative cocktail devices that offer a unique user experience. - **Punch Card Revival:** Opportunity to reintroduce punch cards as an element of surprise and user interactivity in modern products. ### Where This Applies - **Food and Beverage:** Opportunity for restaurants and bars to offer unique, interactive cocktail experiences that differentiate from traditional drink menus. - **Consumer Electronics:** Opportunity to create retro-inspired devices that offer a unique, tactile user experience. - **Crafts and DIY:** Opportunity for makers and hobbyists to create their own interactive cocktail devices that offer a personalized touch to the mixology experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automated Mixologist Cocktail Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocktail-maker.md) - [At-Home Bartending Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-and-decker-bev.md) - [Rechargeable Cocktail Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cordless-cocktail-maker.md) - [Digital Mixology Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-mixology.md) - [Digital Mixology Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocktail-codex.md) - [Commercial AI Mixologists](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brandmuscle-tastebuds.md) - [Cordless Cocktail Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bev-by-black-decker.md) - [AI-Powered Cocktail Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whats-your-cocktail.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Cocktail Menus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deja-vu-cocktail-menu.md)
