# Heartbeat-Inspired Designs Pulseline Shelf By Ayman | Published 2008-04-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pulseline-shelf References: [bookofjoe](http://www.bookofjoe.com/2008/03/ekg-bookshelf-b.html) Inspired by the pulseline that illustrates the heartbeat, the **Pulseline** [book shelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf) by MÃ¥ns Salomonsen is made of 3mm [sheet metal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sfso-1) and the edge is painted with fluorescent green glows in blacklight. Apart from the cool design, I like how the shelf provides convenient places to hold [large books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand) in the deep pulse areas. Otherwise the big books would need something to hold them while standing up. I think even empty, the shelf looks like a piece of art on the wall. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Heartbeat-inspired Designs:** Designs that incorporate the pulseline to create unique products that are both functional and visually appealing. - **Fluorescent Accents:** Designs that feature bright, fluorescent accents to add an attention-grabbing element to products. - **Multi-purpose Shelving:** Shelving that allows for both storage and decorative purposes. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** Opportunities for furniture companies to incorporate innovative designs and accents to create visually appealing and multi-functional products. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating unique and visually striking pieces into interior design projects to create a statement. - **Art and Decor:** Opportunities for artists and decor companies to create pieces that are both functional and visually appealing, such as this pulseline-inspired bookshelf. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Clock-Accented Shelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omega-shelf.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Speaker-Inspired Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lloyd-tex.md) - [Mobile Illuminating Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/for-a-fleeting-moment.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md) - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md)
