# Heart-Simulating Nozzles The 'Pulse Drip' Helps You Vibe with Your Garden By Alexander Lam | Published 2013-07-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pulse-drip References: [psfk](http://www.psfk.com/2013/07/pulse-detecting-hose.html) & [lozano-hemmer](http://www.lozano-hemmer.com/) The 'Pulse Drip' is an interactive installation by artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer that helps you become one with your garden. Lozano-Hemmer's installation uses a [pulse sensor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heart-listener) to simulate your heart using a hose nozzle. Pulse Drip senses your heart beat and controls the flow of the water coming out of your hose. Every time your heart beats, the flow increases. As a result, the hose nozzle simulates your heart while you garden to make your experience even more serene. Pulse Drip works by using a sensor to control an [automated valve](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-irrigation). After you place your finger on the sensor, the hose automatically begins spraying water. An [Arduino](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaggiuino-espresso-machine) processor controls the entire process. All of this is powered by a rechargeable battery so that you can have some endless water-based fun. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Interactive Garden Installations:** Opportunities exist to create more interactive and innovative garden installations that incorporate technology and sensors. - **Biometric Technology in Art:** Using biometric technology, artists can create unique and personalized experiences that respond to an individual's physiological signals. - **Sustainable Water Management:** Incorporating sensors and automation in watering systems can help to reduce water waste and promote sustainable water management practices. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Installations:** The art industry can offer more interactive and personalized experiences for patrons by incorporating biometric technology. - **Home and Garden:** Companies that manufacture products for home and garden maintenance can explore innovations in sustainable water management systems. - **Health and Wellness:** The health and wellness industry can benefit from biometric technology in the development of personalized stress relief and relaxation tools. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Medical-Inspired Plant Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-plant-life-support.md) - [Heartbeat Rhythmic Smart Lockets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thetouch.md) - [Compact Bio-Synth Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-scion.md) - [Plant-Powered MIDI Sound Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-hultn-tegel.md) - [Mesmerizing Fluid Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-fountain.md) - [Multi-Sensory Immersive Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justine-emard.md) - [Digital Interaction Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planta-planter.md) - [Rippling Aquatic Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pulse-lights.md) - [Water Movement Sculptural Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inner-waves.md)
