# Decorative Avian Stationery Puhlmann Bird Clips Spread Their Wings as Bookmarks, Clasps and More By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-06-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puhlmann-bird-clips References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/48238/) & [matomeno](http://matomeno.com/1279.html) These Puhlmann Bird Clips are the elite of office supplies, performing the tasks of lesser [disposable metal paperclips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waveclips) and many more as well. They have been manufactured to assume a size greater than their conventional stationery counterparts, affording them extra abilities and emphasizing their delightful sculptural qualities. There are at least four different versions of the fowl-topped fasteners featuring the sweet songbirds in a variety poses. Their little figures have been filled out slightly to create volume and a hint of three-dimensionality so that they seem to perch atop their ductile backings. A particularly endearing effect is achieved when Puhlmann Bird Clips are used as [page savers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrial-bookstand). With the catches out of sight, they look to roost on the top edges of novels. They're equally twee as [card holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldy), lined up along slack strings as if they were power lines. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Upscaled Stationery:** The Puhlmann Bird Clips demonstrate the trend of creating stationery items that are larger and more visually appealing than conventional counterparts. - **Sculptural Office Supplies:** The use of three-dimensional bird figures on Puhlmann Bird Clips highlights the trend of incorporating sculptural qualities into office supplies. - **Multipurpose Fasteners:** Puhlmann Bird Clips go beyond the functionality of traditional paperclips, representing the trend of creating fasteners that can perform multiple tasks. ### Where This Applies - **Office Supplies:** The office supplies industry can explore opportunities in creating decorative and multipurpose stationery items like the Puhlmann Bird Clips. - **Gift and Novelty:** The gift and novelty industry can tap into the market for unique and visually appealing office supplies, offering products like the Puhlmann Bird Clips. - **Arts and Crafts:** The arts and crafts industry can incorporate sculptural elements into their products, drawing inspiration from the three-dimensional bird figures on Puhlmann Bird Clips. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cheekily Creative Bookmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illustrated-bookmarks.md) - [Note Clip Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-clip.md) - [Personality-Forward Bookmark Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humdrum-paper.md) - [Clipping Pen Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clippen.md) - [Pride-Honoring Bird Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pride-birds.md) - [Magnetic Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shearing-magnetic-absorption.md) - [Reading Book Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe.md) - [Clamping Stationery Dispensers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peleg-design-clamptape.md) - [Bird-Shaped USB Flash Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinge.md)
