Planning to create the park beneath a [roof canopy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/central-yards) -- to create shade from the hot, dry weather and sun -- that looks like the cracks you would find in the desert, this 125,000 square-meter Al Fayah Park will be the first park of its magnitude and architectural prowess in the region. The new public park design will have space for a plethora of activities and features like play areas, picnic areas, vegetable gardens, cafes, a public library, a mosque, an outdoor cinema, as well as an indoor one and outdoor performance spaces. "This sunken oasis becomes a landscape of plants, mature trees and a cluster of public recreational spaces. The 20-metre-high shaded garden is conceived as a place for families to gather and picnic, as well as a place for learning and festivals," says Heatherwick. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sustainable Park Design:** The innovative park design incorporates sustainable features like shade structures and vegetable gardens, offering opportunities for the development of eco-friendly public spaces. - **Multifunctional Public Spaces:** The inclusion of a library, cinema, and performance spaces in the park design showcases the trend of creating versatile public spaces that cater to diverse recreational and cultural activities. - **Architectural Innovation:** The unique roof canopy design inspired by the desert landscape demonstrates the trend of pushing architectural boundaries to create visually stunning and distinctive public parks. ### Who This Affects Most - **Landscape Architecture:** The landscape architecture industry can explore disruptive innovations that integrate sustainable elements into park designs, fostering a more eco-conscious approach to outdoor spaces. - **Leisure and Entertainment:** The leisure and entertainment industry can harness the trend of incorporating diverse recreational activities in public parks, creating unique and engaging experiences for visitors. - **Construction and Design:** The construction and design industry can capitalize on the architectural innovation trend by developing new materials and techniques that enable the construction of visually striking and sustainable park structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Desert Cultural Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/al-ain-museum.md) - [Terraced Urban Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/go-park-sai-sha.md) - [Mangrove Forest-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/once-upon-a-forest.md) - [Upcoming Architectural Floating Parks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/centroparco.md) - [Warm Weather-Catered Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scottsdale-civic-plaza.md) - [Barrel-Vaulted Roof Parks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zubitegi-park.md) - [Sand Dune-Inspired Airport Roofs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-pedersen-fox.md) - [Nature-Inspired Artful Garden Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henderson-art-garden.md) - [Landmark-Inspired Sleek Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doha-modern-playground.md)
