An RFID public bike lock system is bringing an old method of transportation into the future. The PubLock fits onto any existing bicycle rack and uses a personal RFID card for access and security. This system means you will never have to carry a bike lock around with you again.

Created by engineers Alex Neier and Joe Hill, the public bike lock is designed to be sturdy as well as tamper-proof. This means it won't easily break apart through standard wear and tear or attempted thievery, and therefore reduce [instances of theft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bosch-battery-lock) all together. The system is also intuitive and easy to use.

Especially with many schools installing [RFID technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tcl-dr2-max-retrofit-smart-lock) in student cards, the proliferation of this sort of system could result in never needing to carry around a bicycle lock.
