# Ink Blot Dinnerware Psychoplates Encourages a Great Meal with a Psychoanalytic Twist By Matt Ho | Published 2011-08-12 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychoplates References: [betterlivingthroughdesign](http://www.betterlivingthroughdesign.com/accessories/psychoplates.html) & [fitzsu](http://www.fitzsu.com/product_info.php?products_id=8195) I assure you that if mom sets out the Psychoplates before a meal time, she's in love with the design and has no intention of tapping into your mind -- at least, I think. If you've ever wanted a great conversation starter at the dinner table, the Psychoplates will do just that. These are a series of [dinnerware that features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monte-porcelain) the famous Rorschach inkblots that are commonly used in therapy. Each features original designs that are both stylish and trippy. These are [made from porcelain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carolina-k) which give it a beautiful smooth finish. So you think you see something in the Psychoplates' inkblots? Start a conversation about it; but maybe it's better if you just enjoy the meal and the design for what it is. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Psychological Dinnerware:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in creating dinnerware that incorporates psychological elements for unique dining experiences. - **Conversation-starting Tableware:** There is potential for disruptive innovation in designing tableware that sparks engaging discussions and interactions amongst diners. - **Artistic Inkblot-inspired Products:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation exist in developing various products, beyond dinnerware, that feature artistic inkblot designs for aesthetic appeal and psychological intrigue. ### Where This Applies - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can incorporate psychological dinnerware to offer unique dining experiences that captivate guests. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in the home decor industry to create conversation-starting tableware for stylish and interactive dining environments. - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can explore artistic inkblot-inspired products as a medium for self-expression and psychological exploration. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artsy Surrealist Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gohar-world.md) - [Conversation Starting Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinner-table-conversation-starter-napkins.md) - [Chic Stackable Tableware Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tableware-ecosystem.md) - [Coordinated Children-Focused Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tableware-bundle-for-children.md) - [Luxurious Patterned Ceramic Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patterned-ceramic-plates.md) - [Sculptural Ceramic Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-of-tangible-spaces.md) - [Creative Dipping Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dip-sea.md) - [Sin-Inspired Artful Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sinful-feast.md) - [Colorful Enamelware Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-tigress.md)
