The Belgian designer completed these onsite installations with polyethylene tubes. The pieces are in-your-face, [sprawling upwards, out and down](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench). This is the most unpredictably sporadic bench I’ve ever seen. Check it out above! **Implications** - Though the bench could easily be dismissed as a boring piece of furniture, today's consumers and designers see everything as an opportunity for self expression. Those in all facets of the design industry would be wise to incorporate more [abstract, artistic elements](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench) in all of their pieces in order to suit the increasing demand for furniture that allows for self expression to occur. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 84% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Artistic Furniture:** Designers should incorporate more abstract, artistic elements in all of their pieces in order to suit the increasing demand for furniture that allows for self-expression to occur. - **Unconventional Designs:** Consumers and designers alike see unconventional designs as an opportunity for self-expression. - **Psychedelic Aesthetics:** There is a demand among consumers for furniture pieces that embrace psychedelic aesthetics. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** Furniture designers and manufacturers need to incorporate more artistic and unconventional elements into their designs to meet the evolving tastes of consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate these unconventional and artistic pieces into their projects to create unique and personalized spaces for their clients. - **Art and Design:** The worlds of art and design are colliding, and designers who can create functional pieces that double as works of art will have a competitive advantage in the changing industry landscape. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Marble-Patterned Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychedelic-interior.md) - [Psychedelic Hand-Painted Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collection-iii.md) - [Bold Patterned Tubular Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leopard-bench.md) - [Dual Sculpture Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001.md) - [Kinetic Musical Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/musical-bench.md) - [Chic Recycled Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bello-bench.md) - [Sculptural Seating Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rondin.md) - [Minimalist Meditative Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pause-bench.md) - [Graphic Colorful Joint Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/richard-prince.md)
