# Transforming Toy Boxes More Than Storage, the Prossima Fermata is an Engine for the Imagination By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-09-10 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prossima-fermata References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Prossima-Fermata/2534141) Perhaps inspired by the fun that a kid can have with a simple laundry basket, the Prossima Fermata is a [hybrid storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumba) and a toy. As an empty container, the thing is full of potential to an imaginative child, but this concept provides its young users with exciting accessories. A small plastic propeller can be fixed to the front of the polypropylene bin to instantly turn the receptacle into a plane. The crate is large enough that a pair of [tiny toddlers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jumbo-walker) can fit into it at once and soar off to whatever fantasy world they collectively envision. Translating to "Next Stop," the Prossima Fermata can also be adapted into a sailboat. And optimized for practicality, Simone Martin's design is [stackable when empty and when full](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving), and it can stash a great capacity of toys and things. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Youth](https://www.trendhunter.com/youth) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Hybrid Storage:** Creating storage systems that also double as toys provides a unique and innovative solution in the market. - **Transformative Accessories:** By providing exciting accessories that can be attached to storage containers, companies can enhance the imaginative play experience for children. - **Stackable Design:** Developing stackable storage containers allows for efficient use of space and organization. ### Where This Applies - **Toy Industry:** The toy industry can explore the opportunity of creating storage options that are integrated with toys, offering a multi-functional product. - **Home Organization:** In the home organization industry, incorporating imaginative play into storage solutions can add value and appeal to consumers. - **Product Design:** Designers specializing in storage products can focus on developing innovative and versatile designs that cater to children's imagination. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Toy-Specific Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/step2.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Dedicated Student Storage Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kids-furniture-design.md) - [Harbor-Inspired Storage Trolleys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harbor-051.md) - [Winged Storage Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flutterbox.md) - [Kids Modern Step Stool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totto-step.md) - [Toy Block-Inspired Wooden Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rotating-picture-book.md) - [Eco-Friendly Organized Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tronco.md) - [Storage Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks.md)
