# Organically Domed Religious Structures The Pristina Central Mosque by OODA is Monumental By Meghan Young | Published 2013-05-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pristina-central-mosque References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2013/05/pristina-central-mosque-ooda/) & [ooda.eu](http://www.ooda.eu/) The Pristina Central Mosque looks like something out of a sci-fi flick, although the followers of [Islam](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bait-ur-raiyan-mosque) may not appreciate that comparison. The place of worship is quite beautiful to behold. From afar, it looks like a giant hovering bowl that complements the rest of the geometric grounds. Up close, the Pristina Central Mosque is revealed to be an [intricate domed structure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/al-fanar) that has an organically weaved design. Inspired by themes of cultural heritage, geographical landscapes and more, the Pristina Central Mosque was designed by [OODA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ooda), a Portuguese based architecture design office. Created as a submission for a competition, it is a monumental form that stands out as a landmark without neglecting its surroundings in the process. It is also sustainable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Organically Domed Structures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing sustainable and visually stunning architectural designs inspired by organic shapes and weaved patterns. - **Cultural Heritage-inspired Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating architectural designs that pay homage to cultural heritage, while incorporating modern and futuristic elements. - **Geometric Grounds:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing landscapes and public spaces with intricate geometric patterns that enhance the overall aesthetic. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating sustainable and organically inspired designs in architectural projects, ranging from religious structures to public spaces. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing unique and visually captivating landmarks to attract tourists and enhance the hospitality experience. - **Cultural Preservation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Using architecture and design to preserve and showcase cultural heritage in a modern and engaging way. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Classically Designed Geometric Mosques](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mamluki-lancet-mosque.md) - [Red Brick Geometric Mosques](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bait-ur-raiyan-mosque.md) - [Perforated Pink Concrete Mosques](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zebun-nessa-mosque.md) - [Sculptural Photocoltaic Theater Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opera-and-ballet-theatre-of-kosovo.md) - [Sustainable Dome Villas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/belalu-dome-villa.md) - [Mosque-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/islamic-arts-biennale1.md) - [Albanian Sleek Concrete Chuches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/narac-church.md) - [Staggered Cubic Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ooda.md) - [Cultural Civic Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ismaili-center-houston.md)
