Located on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, the PRISM was designed as an [art gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galeria-house), with exhibition space, film-viewing areas, and lecture theaters, to showcase the work of new artists. What's most unique about PRSIM by Marcelo Spina—who is from the architectural practice Patterns—are its [strips of polycarbonate resin-based facade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fractal-facade-house), which wrap around the building like ribbons, offering a reflective surface during the day and a translucent one at night. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 38% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Reflective Facade Design:** The use of reflective surfaces in architectural designs offers opportunities for creating visually striking buildings. - **Translucent Materials:** The use of translucent materials in construction enables creating unique lighting effects and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of buildings. - **Artistic Spaces:** The combination of art galleries, exhibition space, film-viewing areas, and lecture theaters creates a multi-purpose space for showcasing new artists. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can explore the use of reflective facades and translucent materials to create innovative and visually appealing structures. - **Art and Entertainment:** The integration of art galleries and multimedia spaces creates new opportunities for showcasing and experiencing artworks. - **Cultural and Community Spaces:** Creating multi-purpose spaces that combine art exhibitions with educational and cultural events provides opportunities for fostering creativity and community engagement. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glass Pavilion Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diller-scofidio-renfro2.md) - [Brutalist-Inspired Lighting Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prisma-collection.md) - [Conical Glass Pavilion Wineries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-panorama-pavilion.md) - [Artfully Rotating Glass Pillars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panorama.md) - [Public Pavilion Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tess-pavilion.md) - [Fish Scale-Resembling Facades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/istanbul-modern.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [Indian Design Principal-Based Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prism-house.md) - [Futuristic Rooftop Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ls24-lounge-system.md)
