A group of engineering students from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University ([NTU](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-transportation-concept)) got together to design this incredible [three-wheeled 3D-printed vehicle prototype](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-iris-etrike). The design is [part solar-powered](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarpowered-race-vehicle), part battery electric, able to achieve 264 miles per kWh of electrical energy.

Dubbed the 'Nanyang Venture IX' or the 'NV 9,' this vehicle takes inspiration from motorcycle racing, particularly the sharp turns that are conducted at high speeds. Because of this, the 3D-printed vehicle uses a special tilting mechanism to allow it to lean about 40 degrees in the direction of a turn, which is effective in minimizing the loss of speed around corners.

The ambitious student-designed NV9 participated in the Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2015 earlier this year in the Prototype category.
