A group of researchers from the [Korea Institute of Science and Technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intelligent-urban-infrastructure) (KIST) have successfully developed a 3D-printed robot that boasts the ability to mimic human emotions. The [humanoid form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/advanced-humanoid) is created by 3D printing layers upon layers, giving the robot the ability to move in a way that's comparable to a marionette on strings.

The creation may be further enhanced with artificial intelligence technology to gives the bot the ability to respond to its immediate surroundings. For instance, the 3D-printed robot has the potential to offer subtle, detailed movements in response to words or music.

As far as how these [emotional robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yonbo-smart-home-robot) may be used in the future, KIST researchers see great potential for the structures to be used for graphics production in the film industry.
