Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been used to deliver supplies and provide emergency assistance before, but this mission is specific to contraceptives. UNFPA is using [supply drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unmanned-aircrafts) to prevent unwanted pregnancies by getting condoms, birth control pills and other medical cargo to Ghana's upper east, which is difficult to access because of poor road conditions. The UAVs can carry 4.5 pounds, are 5 feet wide and can complete their mission in 30 minutes, compared to what used to be a two day journey. If this campaign is successful, the organization plans to extend the program to Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Mozambique and Ethiopia. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 65% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Medical Delivery Drones:** Opportunity to develop long-flying drones for medical delivery in resource-constrained regions. - **Remote Supply Chain Management:** Opportunity to use drones to manage supply chains in remote areas with difficult access. - **Healthcare Innovation:** Opportunity to innovate in healthcare delivery through the use of drone technology. ### Where This Applies - **Healthcare:** The healthcare industry can explore innovative ways to deliver medical supplies and medications using drones. - **Logistics:** The logistics industry can harness drone technology to efficiently manage supply chain operations in remote areas. - **Technology:** The technology industry can contribute to the development and advancement of drone technology for medical delivery and supply chain operations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Medication Delivery Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazon-pharmacy-1.md) - [Drone-Powered Medical Supply Deliveries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/medical-supply-deliveries.md) - [Temperature-Resistant Delivery Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/temperatureresistant-delivery-drones.md) - [Intercity Cargo Delivery Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dji-express.md) - [Autonomous Supplement Deliveries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gnc-and-zipline.md) - [Halloween Drone Deliveries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halloween-drone-deliveries.md) - [Birth Control Delivery Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birth-control-delivery1.md) - [Self-Steering Delivery Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platform-2.md) - [Logistical Heavy-Duty Delivery Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dji-flycart-100.md)
