Standing at 1,454 feet tall, the Empire State Building is New York’s second highest building (second to One World Trade Center) and will feature two verticle bars of light, one in red representing the Republican candidate Mitt Romney and one in blue representing the [Democratic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amusemints-election-collection) candidate Barack Obama. This project is in collaboration with [CNN](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polymarket-election), who will be recording the light show from atop a nearby building. Once the network projects the presidential election results, the LED lights will change to either all blue or all red. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [World News](https://www.trendhunter.com/worldnews) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Interactive LED Buildings:** Developing LED lighting systems that can display real-time information, such as election results, can provide innovative and interactive ways for buildings to engage with their communities. - **Datavisualization as Art:** Using LED lighting to display data in artistic and visually compelling ways can create new opportunities for businesses and artists to collaborate and engage with audiences. - **Smart Cities:** Integrating LED lighting and other IoT technologies into city infrastructure can create more efficient and engaging urban environments for citizens to live and work in. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** LED lighting systems and data visualization can provide architects and designers with new ways to integrate art and technology into their structures and designs. - **Entertainment:** Incorporating LED lighting and data visualization into live performances and events can create engaging and immersive experiences for audiences. - **Smart City Technology:** Developing more advanced LED lighting and IoT systems can provide cities with the tools to create safer, more efficient, and more engaging urban environments for citizens. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Exclusive Skyscraper Beers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/empire-state-building-hazy-ipa.md) - [Green Terracotta-Donned Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robert-a-iger-building.md) - [AR Hair Color Billboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acidic-color-gloss.md) - [Branded Digital Light Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maybank-light-show.md) - [Neon Illustation-Donned Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafted-world-exhibition-1.md) - [Luxury Brand Light Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-constellation-of-love.md) - [Eiffel Tower-Inspired LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eiffel-tower-lego.md) - [Expansive NYC Tower Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/supertall-skyscraper-1.md) - [Ski Resort Crystalline Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trojena-ski-resort.md)
