The technology company Tau has introduced its Ion platform, a software-defined architecture for power electronics, at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show. The brand presented this innovation as a foundational technology intended to modernize the design and implementation of power conversion systems across various sectors, including electric vehicles, renewable energy, and industrial infrastructure.

The Ion platform employs a modular hardware approach integrated with standardized firmware and software libraries. It aims to allow developers to create highly efficient and reconfigurable power converters more rapidly and at a lower cost than traditional application-specific methods. Tau maintains that the efficiency of its innovation exceeds 99%. The software-defined architecture for power electronics' focus on electromagnetic interference reduction and thermal performance improvements, on the other hand, contributes to quieter, cooler, and more reliable operation of equipment.
