# Hand-Poured Paintings Ian Davenport Creates Vibrant Art by Pouring Gloss Paint at an Angle By Cadhla Gray | Published 2015-11-06 | Updated 2015-11-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poured-paint References: [booooooom](http://www.booooooom.com/2015/11/06/beautiful-poured-paintings-by-artist-ian-davenport/) & [iandavenportstudio](http://www.iandavenportstudio.com/) Artist Ian Davenport poured paint down an angled canvas to create these vibrant and highly contrasted works of art. The pieces feature endless skinny vertical stripes of [multi-colors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorscape-installation), each staying within its own track until it pools with neighboring colors at the bottom. Using [squeeze bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-pour-gift-set) and syringes, Davenport bottles the individual paints and pours them slowly and steadily down a different section of the large canvases. He filters the paint through a metal colander to get rid of any gritty bits and make it a smooth liquid. As a whole, the [poured paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow) look like a colorful version of an old television screen showing static -- the dull blacks and whites turned into a whimsical pattern. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Paint Pouring Art:** Embrace the trend of fluid art and provide workshops/classes or create a line of paint pouring products for enthusiasts. - **Mixed Media Art:** Explore a combination of pouring paint with other mediums such as resin or ink. - **DIY Art Kits:** Create easy-to-use kits with all the materials and instructions needed to create paint pouring artwork at home. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art Supplies:** Develop and market new products geared towards paint pouring artists such as larger canvases and specialized paint brands. - **Art Education:** Offer classes and workshops teaching paint-pouring techniques as a creative outlet for individuals of all skill levels. - **Home Decor:** create customizable paint pouring artwork for home decoration that taps into themes such as accent walls, seasonal art, and more. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3D-Printed Colorful Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olivier-van-herpt-1.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Mesmerizing Fluid Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-fountain.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Color-Blending Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/felipe-pantone.md) - [Colorful Geometric Ceramic Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barva-vases.md) - [Gradient Tonal Optical Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stretch-color.md) - [Structured Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowchart.md)
