Many consumers feel that a "real" Christmas tree better captures the spirit of the holidays, however, this comes at an environmental cost. To combat this wasteful practice, Oregon-based Original Potted Christmas Tree Company offers Christmas trees in pots, allowing consumers to "rent" a live Christmas tree.
After the season is over, the Original Potted Christmas Tree Company picks up the trees and plants the trees in watersheds. The company serves the Portland and Eugene area and the cost of the tree rental–which includes delivery, pickup, planting, and "peace of mind"–is $150.
In addition, having the living tree in your home will improve the oxygen in your (as trees emit oxygen) and pose less of a fire risk as they are not dry like traditional cut Christmas trees.
