Jerry Millen, the owner of the cannabis company, became aware of the [American Red Cross's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/free-dozen-donuts) need for blood amidst a national shortage. He explains: "I saw that [news report] and I thought about it for a minute and then it started sinking in more over the next week."

During the first week of the promotion, The Greenhouse gave away 300 pre-rolled cannabis joints to blood donors. The campaign started on January 18th and will run for six weeks. Millen's brand partnered with UBaked, a cultivator and processor in Burton, Michigan, to provide the pre-rolls.
