# Portable Biometric Scanners Fujitsu's Portable Vein Scanner Makes Biometric Recognition Accessible By Mary Van Puymbroeck | Published 2017-07-06 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-vein-scanner References: [findbiometrics](https://findbiometrics.com/fujitsu-launches-highly-portable-palm-vein-scanner-26167/) & [fujitsu](http://www.fujitsu.com/tw/about/resources/news/press-releases/2009/2009-0417.html) Fujitsu has launched a portable vein scanner that can offer fast and accurate authentication in remote areas. The 'PalmSecure-SL Sensor' can connect to a tablet or laptop anywhere to authenticate identity. The device doesn't have any cumbersome cables, so the PalmSecure-SL Sensor can connect to a device with its built-in USB port. Its continuous image-capturing system means that users don't have to keep their hands perfectly still while the device is scanning, eliminating tedious repeat attempts. This new device helps to round out Fujitsu's line-up of vascular scanning technology. Palm scanners are already being used in sports stadiums for a more controlled entry process. The release of this portable vein scanner means there will be fewer restrictions on access to this technology and people can start authenticating identity in more informal situations. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Portable Biometric Scanners:** Fujitsu's portable vein scanner offers fast and accurate authentication in remote areas. - **Wireless Authentication Devices:** The PalmSecure-SL Sensor connects wirelessly to tablets or laptops for convenient identity authentication. - **Continuous Image-capturing Systems:** The continuous image-capturing system in the PalmSecure-SL Sensor eliminates the need for users to keep their hands perfectly still, increasing ease of use. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Biometric Security:** The portable vein scanner disrupts the biometric security industry by offering portable and non-invasive identity authentication technology. - **IT Hardware:** The PalmSecure-SL Sensor provides an innovative solution in the IT hardware industry by enabling wireless connectivity to tablets and laptops for secure authentication. - **Access Control Systems:** Continuous image-capturing systems present disruptive innovation opportunities for the access control systems industry, allowing for more efficient and accurate identity authentication processes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Palm-Recognizing Smart Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phillips-palmlock.md) - [Palm Print Authentication Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/realme-gt5-pro.md) - [Accessible Palm-Scanning Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wyze-palm-lock.md) - [Identity Verification Infrastructures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iris-id.md) - [Biometric Bank-Grade Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/securam-touch.md) - [Fingerprint-Scanning Payment Cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biometric-payment-cards.md) - [Biometric Banking Technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biometric-system.md) - [Fingerprint-Scanning Water Dispensers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-dispenser-concept.md) - [Biometric Authentication Smart Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultraloq-smart-home-locks.md)
