With a read speed of up to 2,800MB/s and a write speed of 2,300MB/s, this powerhouse SSD is capable of transferring a 20GB file in as little as 12 seconds. Part of this capability is also owed to the 40Gbps-bandwidth [Thunderbolt 3](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lacie-rugged-ssd4) featured on the Portable SSD X5. This speedy transfer time is sure to prove useful to those working with 4K video files or ultra-high resolution photos. The device itself weighs just 150 grams and includes a shock-resistant interior frame. This frame allows the Portable SSD X5 to withstand overheating and is coupled with data protection with AES 256-bit hardware encryption.
