# Fashionable Portable Lanterns These Lanterns Were Created to Be an Alternative to Flashlights By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-06-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-lanterns References: [vimeo](https://vimeo.com/171276339) & [felicieeymard](http://www.felicieeymard.com/) These ethereal portable lanterns provide illumination in the home or during long walks at night. The portable lanterns were designed by Felicie Eymard and provide a warm glow that is bright enough to improve visibility in dark spaces. The lamp is foldable and quite compact, but when folded out forms a customizable circle that hangs from a strap. The user can wear the portable light as they might a purse -- providing illumination and safety in the darkest of nights. These "Little Firefly' lights were designed to be used during "long winter nights" in Scandinavian countries. By providing a stylish form of illumination, these lights certainly do their job in alleviating some of the safety concerns that arise when travelling at night. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Portable Lanterns:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design lanterns with customizable features for personalized lighting experiences. - **Ethereal Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate smart technology into portable lanterns for advanced control and automation. - **Fashionable Safety:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine fashion and functionality by creating portable lanterns that can be worn as fashion accessories. ### Who This Affects Most - **Outdoor Gear:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop portable lanterns with durable materials and enhanced performance for outdoor enthusiasts. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create portable lanterns that blend seamlessly with interior design while providing unique lighting effects. - **Safety Equipment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design portable lanterns with built-in emergency features, such as SOS signals or GPS tracking. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Outdoor Lantern Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camping-lantern-1.md) - [Flower-Like Portable Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tulit-led-lantern.md) - [Collapsible Emergency-Ready Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tomori-lantern-kit.md) - [Portable Wireless Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fsl-wireless.md) - [Fireplace-Inspired Campsite Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leacco-camping-lantern.md) - [Whimsical Item-Holding Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightray.md) - [Glowing Whimsical Storybook Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fable-lantern.md) - [Portable Telescopic Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outask.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Camping Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/max-lantern.md)
