# Compact Kitchen Range Hoods The 'Portable Kitchen Hood' Can be Placed Easily in Small Spaces By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2017-12-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-kitchen-hood References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2017/12/07/kitchen-fumes-begone/) & [cargocollective](http://cargocollective.com/maximeaugay) The average size of our homes is shrinking given the distinct rise of consumers into urban areas, so new product solutions are being created with this in mind like the 'Portable Kitchen Hood.' Featuring a truly portable design, the kitchen hood can be used to remove unwanted odors and smells from your home before they have the chance to permeate into larger areas. This is achieved by being placed directly next to appliances and cooking surfaces to suck up fumes and neutralize smells thanks to an activated charcoal filter, while also capturing microparticles of fat or oil. The 'Portable Kitchen Hood' is the design work of Maxime Augay and identifies what could be done for kitchen spaces where traditional hood ranges might not otherwise be possible. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Compact Kitchen Appliances:** The rise of consumers living in urban areas and smaller homes creates an opportunity for innovators to develop compact kitchen appliances, like the 'Portable Kitchen Hood'. - **Portable Home Appliances:** The trend towards smaller living spaces demands portable home appliances to address space restrictions, like the 'Portable Kitchen Hood'. - **Activated Charcoal Filters:** The growing concern for air quality and odor management creates a market for appliances equipped with activated charcoal filters, such as the 'Portable Kitchen Hood'. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Appliance Industry:** The home appliance industry can create innovative product solutions for urban consumers like the 'Portable Kitchen Hood', to meet specific space and air quality needs. - **Kitchen Range Hood Industry:** The trend towards compact living arrangements creates an opportunity for industry leaders to develop portable versions of traditional kitchen range hoods, similar to the 'Portable Kitchen Hood'. - **Air Filtration Industry:** The air filtration industry could capitalize on the growing concern for air quality and develop appliances equipped with activated charcoal filters, like the 'Portable Kitchen Hood', to serve customers with specific odor management needs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Small Space Hood Ranges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-range-hood.md) - [Mobile Quad-Filter Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breetee-portable-range-hood.md) - [Space-Saving Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oilvent.md) - [Adjustable Lamp-Like Hood Ranges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-air-purifier.md) - [Mini Kitchen Cooking Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kokir-cooking-curifier.md) - [Storage-Equipped Extractor Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/extractor-hood.md) - [Connected Kitchen Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ciarra-infinity.md) - [Stealthy Functional Kitchen Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mono-kitchen-hood.md) - [Connected Kitchen Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-bespoke-smart-wall-mount-hood.md)
