# Smartphone Port Adapters The 'FORE' Device Enhances the Capabilities of the iPhone 7 Port By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-09-23 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/port-adapter References: [geeky-gadgets](http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/fore-iphone-7-jack-and-charging-adapter-23-09-2016/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1813491433/fore-iphone-2-in-1-headphone-jack-and-charging-por) The iPhone 7 infamously ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack which caused shockwaves to spread throughout the blogosphere and consumer market, so the 'FORE' port adapter looks to soften the blow. Being funded on Kickstarter, the 'FORE' two-in-one device enables iPhone 7 users to expand the functionalities of the Lightning port on the new device. The 'FORE' adapter works by being inserted into the iPhone 7 Lightning port and instantly splitting it into two separate ports including a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Lightning port. This allows the device to be charged while listening to music without having to choose between one function or the other. The 'FORE' port adapter helps to make the transition away from the 3.5mm headphone jack a little less daunting for those who have upgraded, or will soon, to the iPhone 7. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Lightning Port Adapters:** Opportunity to develop adapters that expand the functionalities of mobile devices with Lightning ports. - **Dual-function Accessories:** Chance to create accessories that enable users to simultaneously charge their devices and use other features. - **Transition Support:** Potential to offer products or services that help users migrate smoothly from older device models to newer ones. ### Who This Affects Most - **Electronics:** Disruption potential to create innovative adapters and accessories for smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices. - **Audio Equipment:** Opportunity to design headphones, earphones, and other audio devices compatible with new mobile device ports. - **Mobile Accessories:** Potential to develop a range of accessories that cater to the specific needs of users with devices lacking traditional audio ports. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Backwards-Compatible Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obsoless-iphone-case.md) - [Magnetic Smartphone Audio Amplifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hires-headphone-amplifier.md) - [Three-in-One Smartphone Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chargepuck.md) - [Affordable Headphone Adapters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maxell-sync-up.md) - [Flexible Charging Adapters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flexible-charge-adapter.md) - [Smartphone Audio DAC Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campfire-audio-dac-wallet.md) - [Aftermarket Smartphone Audio Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buddy-audio-device.md) - [Charging-Friendly Smartphone Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iphone-gaming-controller.md) - [Customizable Bluetooth Amplifier Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whooshi-portable-amplifier.md)
