# Multi-Sensory Garden Pop-Ups This Pop-Up Garden in London is a Sophisticated Play Structure By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2016-07-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-up-garden References: [livegreenblog](http://www.livegreenblog.com/landscaping/pop-garden-in-london---the-milkshake-tree-11741/) & [phplusarchitects](http://phplusarchitects.com/projects/) The 'Milkshake Tree' is an inventive pop-up garden that's been set up in London's Greenwich Peninsula for this year's Festival of Architecture. The installation by pH+ architects was inspired by a collaboration with the [London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dalston-pavilion) (LCCCP) and encourages play through sensorial exploration. While The Milkshake Tree offers a more sophisticated look than most other structures that are built for children, the pop-up garden features [copper xylophones that can be played](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otonomori), a central mirrored cube and a prism that creates a kaleidoscope effect. Following the London Festival of Architecture 2016, The Milkshake will be relocated to its new home at the LCCCP in North London. The Milkshake Tree gets its unusual name from a child who suggested that they wanted a "milkshake tree" at the new LCCCP playground. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Multi-sensory Gardens:** Creating immersive and interactive outdoor spaces that stimulate the senses, providing opportunities for exploration and play. - **Inclusive Design:** Designing structures and installations that cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all. - **Pop-up Experiences:** Setting up temporary installations and gardens to provide unique and memorable experiences, capturing the attention of customers and creating a sense of urgency. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Incorporating multi-sensory elements and inclusive design into architectural projects, creating spaces that engage users on a sensory level. - **Education:** Integrating multi-sensory gardens into educational settings to enhance learning experiences and promote sensory development. - **Hospitality:** Creating pop-up garden experiences at hotels, resorts, and event spaces to attract guests and offer immersive and Instagrammable moments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Curvaceous Artful Play Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/play-pavilion.md) - [Heritage Sound Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hornscape-playground.md) - [Vibrantly Artful Playful Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/play-pavilion-1.md) - [Interactive Illustrative Refreshment Pop-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-touch-of-colour-popup.md) - [Children-Collaborative Design Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflect-pavilion.md) - [Vibrantly Pink Skelter Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stay-playful.md) - [Structural Energetic Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archipelago-playscape.md) - [Abstract Colorfully Vibrant Playscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wired-scape.md) - [Botanical Bodycare Pop-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-garden-pop-up.md)
