# Expandable Compact Campers 'The Tipoon' is a Pop-Up Camper That Expands Three Times Its Size By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2018-04-25 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-up-camper References: [digitaltrends](https://www.digitaltrends.com/outdoors/tipoon-camping-trailer/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds#/9) & [tipoonthetravelmachine](http://tipoonthetravelmachine.com/page9.html) Within the realm of [towable recreational vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pininfarina-foldable-trailer), pop-up campers are by no means new, but 'Tipoon The Travel Machine' is a unique concept that is designed to expand to three times its original size once with just a single click of a remote control. The moveable pod boasts the ability to open both outwards and upwards, providing a comfortable amount of space to accommodate up to four people. As an alternative to its fully open mode, Tipoon also offers a half-open setting that keeps one of the campers wings closed. Since the storage of a [full-sized camping trailer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/specops-crashpad-camper) can be costly in terms of size and money during the off-season, this pop-up camper offers a smart solution that compacts down to just 5.5 feet for towing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Expandable Recreational Vehicles:** The idea of expandable recreational vehicles can be applied to other means of transportation and shelter to increase efficiency and convenience. - **Remote-controlled Expandable Structures:** The use of remote-controlled expandable structures can revolutionize various industries that utilize temporary or portable facilities such as event management and disaster relief. - **Transformable Architecture:** The concept of transformable architecture can be employed in designing smaller living spaces in urban areas where efficient use of space is crucial. ### Who This Affects Most - **Recreational Vehicle Industry:** The expandable feature of recreational vehicles can be further developed to cater to different needs and lifestyles, providing a niche market for individuals with specific preferences and demands. - **Transportation and Logistics Industry:** Remote-controlled expandable structures can be utilized in the transportation and logistics industry to enable the efficient storage and handling of goods, optimizing space and resources. - **Architecture and Construction Industry:** The concept of transformable architecture can be integrated into designing smart homes, improving the functionality and flexibility of living spaces, and promoting sustainable living practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Expandable Accordion-Style Campers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/de-markies-camper.md) - [Expanding 10-Person Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opus-o4-offroad-trailer.md) - [A-Frame Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aliner-evolution-camper.md) - [Versatile Pop-Up Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easy-caravanning-takeoff.md) - [Rotating Truck Campers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/truck-campers.md) - [Fully Expanding Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berg-offroad-cx3.md) - [Cubic Car Camper Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carsule-portable-popup-tent.md) - [Towable Inflating Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hardkorr-campers-xplorer-23.md) - [Retro-Style Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/type-2-campers-t23.md)
