# Mosaic Pop Culture Art This Playful Pop Culture Series is Vibrant and Nostalgic By Farida Helmy | Published 2014-02-19 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-culture-series References: [beautifuldecay](http://beautifuldecay.com/2014/02/18/pop-culture-cheap-toys/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/losgritosdelenny/) Looking through this pop culture series is like a nostalgic head rush; it's all so comfortably familiar but a lot more colorful and artsy. Using everything she can get her hands on from beads to money to computer hardware and toys, Argentina-based artist Elisa Insua is inspired by everything pop culture. The artist's pop culture series uses certain items that almost all of us can relate to because of their popularity in popular culture such as a Playstation controller, a portrait of Darth Vader, toy guns and iconic logos. Playing with texture and color, Insua’s works are accurate and cheerful. Most of her pieces look like mosaic pieces of art but after a deeper look, the playfulness of what they represent takes over. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Pop Culture Art:** Exploring the use of pop culture references in artistic creations presents opportunities for innovative and nostalgic designs. - **Mixed Media Art:** Combining various materials, from beads to computer hardware, in art showcases the potential for unique and visually striking creations. - **Colorful Mosaic Art:** Embracing the playfulness of mosaic art, especially with vibrant colors, opens up avenues for captivating and eye-catching artistic expressions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Artistic Creations:** Artists can explore new techniques and mediums through the incorporation of pop culture references, creating disruptive and engaging artwork. - **Toy and Gaming Industry:** Incorporating popular toys and gaming elements into artistic creations can bring new perspectives and attract a broader audience, presenting opportunities for collaboration and cross-industry innovation. - **Home Decor Industry:** Integrating colorful and nostalgic mosaic art into home decor products can offer unique and visually striking options, disrupting the traditional decor market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Analog Nostalgia Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-basics-ii.md) - [Pop Culture-Themed Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/my-world.md) - [Colorful Retro Pixel Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-mirror.md) - [Pixelated Toy-Like Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/litebrite-pop-wow-wall-art.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Collectible Historical Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thrilljoy-pix.md) - [Pop Art Legend-Honoring Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keiichi-tanaami-1.md) - [Reimagined Puzzled Artful Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portrait-of-a-woman-in-a-hat.md)
