# Outdoor Pool Oases This Pool Deck was Transformed into a Cedar Hideaway By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-12-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pool-deck References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/the-pool-house-by-klopf-architecture/) & [klopfarchitecture](http://www.klopfarchitecture.com/index.htm) Klopf Architecture updated the pool deck of a renovated mid-century home located in Los Gatos, California, turning it into a multi-purposed "outdoor oasis." The 'Pool House,' features a shady outdoor work area, lounging space and change rooms. The architects opted for a simple design and material palette, both of which were chosen specifically to correlate with the home's existing aesthetic. The pool house, which is comprised of a cedar body and Ipe wood decking, also relates well to the surrounding landscape, most notably the redwood trees. A mini-kitchen lies inside the structure, allowing residents to whip up poolside snacks and drinks at their convenience. Shade and snacks, what more could anyone possibly ask for? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Outdoor Living Spaces:** Opportunity to create innovative, multi-purpose outdoor spaces that combine work and leisure activities. - **Natural and Sustainable Materials:** Disruption potential in using eco-friendly materials like cedar and Ipe wood for construction and design. - **Integration of Amenities:** Potential to integrate kitchen and dining areas into outdoor spaces for added convenience and enjoyment. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create unique and functional outdoor living spaces. - **Construction:** Opportunity to work with sustainable materials and create eco-friendly structures. - **Hospitality and Tourism:** Potential to enhance outdoor amenities in hotels, resorts, and recreational areas for a more immersive and enjoyable experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Garden-Surrounded Pool House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geometric-pool-house.md) - [Unobstructive Hidden Pool Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knox-bhavan.md) - [Bamboo Luxe Pool Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/godai-pavilion.md) - [Forest Sanctuary Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sadowski-house.md) - [Seaside Home Renovation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-de-praia.md) - [Asymmetrical Ultra-Compact Pools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/faraway-pool.md) - [Tranquil Courtyard Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cupertino-courtyard-house.md) - [Underwater Pool Window Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hastingssunrise.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Contemporary Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/live-oak-ride-residence.md)
