# DNA Defecation Tests Poo Prints Encourages Pet Owners to Clean Up After Their Pooches By Michael Hines | Published 2011-07-27 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poo-prints References: [springwise](http://www.springwise.com/lifestyle_leisure/pooprints/) & [pooprints](http://www.pooprints.com/) Anonymous dog defecation could soon become a thing of the past thanks to Poo Prints. Poo Prints is a DNA testing kit developed to help unmask the dogs behind the doo. The kit is designed specifically for housing managers who often try in vain to get people to [pick up after their pooches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pick-up-your-poop). A sign warning of a fine means nothing if nobody catches you in the act. With Poo Prints, dog owners would swab the inside of their dog's mouth to collect a [DNA sample](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bark-bank). The management is provided with a bag designed to carry [a sample of the "specimen"](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/myecoworld) back to the lab. Dog and poo are matched and the correct owner is fined for the offense. While this idea seems to border on the extreme, I still think it is quite brilliant. It only takes one inconsiderate pet owner to ruin a pristine patch of communal grass. Poo Prints would help keep pet owners honest and communities clean.
