Bindeshwar Pathak, an Indian sanitation specialist, has found a way to turn [human waste](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tushy-launched-hindsight) into raw material that can be fashioned into [doors and window frames](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ross-lovegroves-door-handles). He dreams of opening a Poop Depot home improvement store. Twenty-one of his doors are now on display at the Lisson Art Gallery. **Implications** - You would think that these doors and windows would get awfully smelly, melting in the hot and humid summer, but Bindeshwar Pathak insists that they are totally durable. Although Poop Depot is an interesting concept, it is likely that most people will stick with their [plastic doors and windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meta-hardware) for the time being! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sustainable-building-materials:** The use of human waste as a raw material for doors and window frames presents an opportunity for the development of sustainable building materials. - **Circular-economy:** The conversion of human waste into usable products demonstrates the potential for a circular economy approach by creating new resources from waste materials. - **Bio-based-furniture:** The production of doors and window frames from human waste opens up possibilities for the creation of bio-based furniture that is eco-friendly and innovative. ### Who This Affects Most - **Construction:** The construction industry can explore the use of human waste as a building material to create more sustainable and eco-friendly structures. - **Waste-management:** The waste management industry can leverage the conversion of human waste into usable products to promote a more efficient and environmentally friendly waste disposal process. - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can explore the production of bio-based furniture from human waste to offer innovative and sustainable design options for consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainable Timber-Made Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodio-block-toilet.md) - [Scented Toilet Drops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dedcool-1.md) - [Sustainable Sand-Filled Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandi-toilet.md) - [Enclosed Japanese Park Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toiletowa.md) - [Packable Backcountry Bathroom Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathroom-kit.md) - [Recycled Plastic Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/recycled-plastic-tiny-home.md) - [Two-in-One Toilet Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/potty-pods.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Metallic Potty Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-portal.md) - [Inflatable Portable Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpot.md)
