This clever product is a geoform blanket that folds up completely to conceal [playroom chaos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks). Designer Wiktoria Szawiel came up with a generous standard version and a Polimata Small that cater to different sizes of interior spaces and plaything collections. The first unfurls from the shape of a banana to expose its entertaining contents and serve as a [comfortable carpet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kvadrat-raf-simons). The corners of the latter come together and seal shut to form a soft pyramid shape. The two Polimata products were inspired by the [folding paper art of origami](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollup-chess-board), by the curiosity of kids and by the complaints of parents. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Multifunctional Play Mats:** The Polimata toy box and play mat hybrid showcases the opportunity for innovative products that cater to both entertainment and organization needs. - **Foldable Storage Solutions:** The unique folding mechanism of the Polimata could inspire new products in the storage industry that prioritize space-saving designs. - **Origami-inspired Products:** The origami-inspired design of the Polimata presents opportunities for similarly designed products in various industries, such as home decor or fashion. ### Where This Applies - **Children's Toys and Accessories:** The Polimata targets the children's toy market, presenting opportunities for other companies to incorporate multifunctional designs into new products. - **Home Decor and Organization:** The Polimata's unique features make it applicable to the home decor and organization markets, driving innovation in foldable and adaptable designs. - **Textile and Fabric Manufacturing:** The Polimata's use of fabric and advanced folding techniques could inspire new developments in fabric manufacturing and textile design for a wide range of applications. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Independence-Encouraging Toy Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toy-storage-box.md) - [Playful Modular Kids Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twiny-sofa-system.md) - [Modular Protective Floor Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mylle-puzzle-mat.md) - [Toy-Specific Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/step2.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Modular Upholstered Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster.md) - [Kid-Friendly Modular Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/figgy-play-couch.md) - [Multipurpose Children's Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kid-cubes.md) - [Three-in-One Pet Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-pet-bed-design.md)
