Now everyone will know before they set foot into your home that you're an avid Doctor Who sci-fi fan. The TARDIS is a fake police phone box that is actually a secret time traveling portal. In the show Doctor Who relies on the TARIDS to jump between intergalactic worlds and galaxies in order to fight crime and save the universe. This [fantasy doormat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/issin) celebrates the importance of the TARDIS with a navy blue color scheme, an embossed graphic of the TARDIS phone booth and a print of the witty saying "Bigger on the inside." The saying refers to the fact that though the TARDIS seems small, its ability to double up as a universe portal makes it an immensely large space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sci-fi Themed Doormats:** With an increasing number of fans looking to showcase their interests through home decor, there is an opportunity for companies to create a series of doormats featuring characters and themes from popular sci-fi franchises. - **Nostalgic Merchandise for Popular TV Shows:** As fans continue to have a strong connection to iconic TV shows long after they have aired, companies can tap into this market by creating products such as doormats that feature references to shows like Doctor Who. - **Fandom-inspired Household Items:** The popularity of shows like Doctor Who and the passion of their fanbase provides an opportunity for companies to create innovative household items that cater to the fandom, such as a TARDIS-inspired doormat. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** The increased demand for unique and personalized decor items provides an opportunity for companies in the home decor industry to expand their product lines and create sci-fi inspired doormats. - **Entertainment Merchandise:** The passionate fandoms of TV shows can be a lucrative market for companies in the entertainment merchandise industry, with products like sci-fi themed doormats helping to expand their offerings. - **E-commerce:** The growth of e-commerce platforms has made it easier for merchandise companies to reach their target audience, making it an attractive industry for those looking to capitalize on fandoms and pop culture references in their products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi-Themed Desktop Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-orbitkey-desk-mat.md) - [Patterned Luxe Progressive Doormats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-outlier.md) - [Pizza-Gifting Doormats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reverse-delivery.md) - [Football Club Rug Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/official-arsenal-collection.md) - [Customizable All-Purpose Floor Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-floor-mat.md) - [Intelligent Textile Sensor Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trampletek-blue.md) - [Washable Pet Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dayspring-mat.md) - [Washable Superhero Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superhero-rugs.md) - [Cartoon-Themed Smart Bath Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/issin.md)
