# Precariously Perched Pieces The Poketo Balancing Blocks for a Game of Stone Stacking Skill By Renee Ramsarran | Published 2011-03-24 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poketo-balancing-blocks References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/Balancing_Blocks--Toy--Gear.html) & [poketo](http://poketo.com/shop/living/Toys?product_id=1341) These brilliant Poketo Balancing Blocks are for those who become enthralled by the unusual spectacle of stacking things one on top of another. This kit would certainly keep one endlessly entertained, providing the perfect at-home pastime of exploring the magic behind handling and loading rocks into [gravity-defying formations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench). Each player must carefully find and feel the balancing point of the brightly colored pieces. The results are some seemingly impossible and virtually floating arrangements. The process requires incredible skill and patience, and would serve as a great game that allows every member of the family to participate. The practice of rock balancing has also been heralded as a [deeply reflective and highly instructive activity](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/speks-magnet-balls). (Therefore, I encourage the Poketo Balancing Blocks to be tried out solo as a means of facilitating calm and meditation.) Made from repurposed hardwood scrap collected from local Brooklyn furniture shops, the ten Balancing Blocks come in a satchel perfect for taking on the go. They can also be placed on display as a eye-catching and precarious piece of home décor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Stone Stacking Skill:** Opportunity for developing a new form of entertainment based on the skill of stacking rocks in gravity-defying formations. - **Reflective and Instructive Activities:** Opportunity to create products that promote calm, meditation, and self-reflection through unique activities. - **Repurposing Hardwood Scrap:** Opportunity to tap into the market for sustainable and eco-friendly products by repurposing waste materials for innovative designs. ### Where This Applies - **Entertainment:** An industry that can explore and leverage the skill of stone stacking for creating new games and leisure activities. - **Wellness and Mindfulness:** An industry that can incorporate reflective and instructive activities into products and services that promote calm and self-reflection. - **Sustainable Home Decor:** An industry that can utilize repurposed materials for creating unique and environmentally friendly home decor items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Marble Mazes Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-maze.md) - [Elegant Desktop Brainteaser Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craighill-tetra.md) - [Engaging 3D Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foros-game.md) - [Structure Building Cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-cards-building-kit.md) - [Multifaceted Geometric Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stackable-stools.md) - [Luxury Block Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bottega-veneta-jenga.md) - [Stone-Like Supportive Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stapelstein.md) - [Prehistoric Puzzle Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/block-puzzle-in-the-stone-age.md) - [Towering Wooden Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-tower.md)
